ACT and Alison Krauss
Today I took a practice ACT. Yes, it is an easy exam. I wish I had better concentration. :P And actually, I only took less than half of the practice test. My composite thus far hovers around a 30. My English score was 29. My math score was about 31 (go figure), though I didn't actually finish the math test because the doorbell rang (and there were several questions I wanted to go back and answer later which I marked as wrong when I scored myself). I haven't tried a science reasoning or reading comprehension test yet. Those tests are most certainly NOT my strong points!!
Of course, it all depends on the questions I get, and my mindset on the day of the exam... and of course God's mercy. :P Many of the questions I answered incorrectly were ones I could have answered correctly on a different day.
And at least I know my ballpark.
I hate standardized English tests, because I don't like the test-writers' style. So I disagree with the choices they give me (I have a better alternative), or I'm confused about the tenses they use in the paragraph... or I think a phrase should be omitted, but they don't give me that option. Basically I can't make myself manipulate the system.
However, I'm naturally pretty good at English, so I manage to survive. :P Also, I completed the section (75 questions, 45 minutes) with twenty minutes to spare. Now THAT was funny!
Math is predictable. Everyone does it the same way. So on a standardized test (where creativity is NOT the object), I tend to do better at it. If my answer is on the sheet, then I'm almost positive I've got it right.

Okay, I'm supposed to get off the computer really soon, and I haven't discussed anything but a stupid ACT test. SORRY!!!
I'm done talking about the Terri Schiavo case. Now we just have to wait 'til she dies. The whole affair is sickening, but totally hopeless. Just pray that God receives her soul. He is gracious.
We've been listening to Alison Krauss' "Lonely Runs Both Ways" cd all day. Whenever that fiddle solo comes on in "Borderline" or "Wouldn't Be So Bad," I just think to myself, This is why I love Alison. Her fiddle is unparalleled, and rather indescribable.
Her voice is okay. Her songs vary in interest and color. But her fiddle is PERFECT! Coupled with Jerry Douglas' dobro, and of course the rest of Union Station, her music is worthy of attention. Very much so.
Well, now I'm really getting off. Bye.

Good grief! That's a great score for the ACT! It'll be a breeze for you, I'm sure. But I'll be praying for you and Sam next Saturday.
