The Aftermath:

What Actually Happened over Spring Break, in Three Short Paragraphs:

1. Nothing that I planned. I had about... one and a half decent private work days, where I studied, did chores, etc. Ya know? I'm ok with that. Really.

2. Nothing involving early bedtimes. Between 10 and 11 every night. Not bad, eh?

3. Allergies. Watch me cry, sniff, sneeze, cough, and lie around miserably. It's been a long week, and I've been double-dosing the antihistamines every other day. Loratadine for the head, Allegra for the chest. It works! Unfortunately, at the ripe old age of *hem* seventeen, I forgot whether or not I took my medicine as I got ready for bed last night.. Apparently I didn't. But I had to wait twelve agonizing hours before I knew for sure. :o) (for all who wonder about my sanity, let me make this clear: that is not an isolated incident. It happens once a week, sometimes more frequently... God alone knows how oblivious I'll be by the time I'm sixty. But let's not go there.)

(that was the first paragraph. Clear enough? Number two follows--a list of the various expeditions made over this lazy week.)

1. OKC for PJN's last basketball game. Spent some good time with FB, and had dinner at Cracker Barrel with Mrs. N and Stephen. Home for a bonfire and marshmallows, with the 4 neighbor girls, J-squared, and my family. We sang Psalms, told jokes, silly stories, and songs, and ate s'mores. 'Twas fun.

2. Tuesday work afternoon. I didn't do much of the work, but it was fun to have the entire P family (minus Mrs.), plus Daniel, plus J, plus Mr. N over for the entire afternoon. I mostly did random odd paint jobs. We had dinner together, plus an ice cream snack, and our kitchen was brought along quite a ways. My father is starting to see some light at the end of a tunnel... It might be added that over Monday and Tuesday, my mom and Frac were at Arkansas Children's for Frac's appointment.

3. Tuesday night, robotics. My first visit in three or four months. The robot has been sent to Houston, the fix-it windows are coming to an end, and the medical release forms are being signed in anticipation of a road trip next week. All this done in months that completely slipped by me. Despite the passage of time and events, I somehow felt immediately at home. I poked around the shop with L looking for swerve-drive unit components, helped to clean Old Faithful just a bit, horsed around with Matthew more than I should have, and worked a bit with the publicity team. And I ate a pickle.

4. Tuesday to Wednesday, Sam, Marigold, Tack and I had a sleepover. Watched Eragon until 1 AM, and in the case of Sam and I, stayed up talking 'til 3. Then comes the funny part. Sam slept until NOON the next day. My body conscientiously awoke me at 7:45, but I was mercilessly lazy. So I locked the door to keep out oncoming invaders (namely, siblings who think you're lazy). And I let Sam sleep. For awhile I kept in the twilight zone. Then I picked up a book, "The Four Loves," by C.S. Lewis, and I made it halfway through "Affection" before Sam finally woke up.

It's weird being up at noon. By the time it's six o'clock, you've only been up for six hours. Needless to say, Wednesday was a short day. Most of it was really Tuesday.

5. Thursday, the next surprise presented itself. My former employer's husband was away at a home-builders' conference, and she was dreadfully ill. So I came over on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to babysit her one-year-old, feed the animals, and do some routine general maintenance, including a long walk to get the mail every day. I haven't been very used to any sort of physical work, so this was rather exhausting. Not that getting the mail put me out, but it helped all the other things. Then of course, there's Baby. And of course, babies are exhausting. She's a year old, on the verge of walking, and says five words: Dog, Cat, Chicken, Mama, and... something else. I can't remember. She has a wavy, curly mop of light reddish-brown hair, and very round blue-green-gray eyes, set in a very pretty face. Her smile has teeth now. And, I might add, she industriously un-packs anything that's put away (laundry, tupperware, toys, mail...). My most important job was to keep her busy. This took some brain-stretching on my part. (play catch, play pat-a-cake, play peekaboo, play put-on-take-off, and on, and on, and on...) I'm sure you get the idea. :0)

(thus ends paragraph number two. Paragraph three follows.)

As you can see, spring break didn't happen as quietly as I had hoped. It was wonderful. It is over. May Monday hit me like a ton of bricks!!

Wow, it sounds like you had a very busy spring break! The sleepover story sounded fun! I've had a few of those where we stayed up at least that late. :)

Thanks for a lovely description of your spring break!

And what did you think of "Erragon"?

Hope you survived today... I'm beginning to feel as though I won't... I went to bed at ten-thirty last night, couldn't get to sleep until after twelve-thirty, and woke up at six-thirty. Go figure!
