Want to make yourself smart?
My deepest apologies for writing about my standardized test. This blog is honest, and therefore happens to be quite selfish, because I'm selfish. :P I seriously want to delete that particular post. However, I was really thinking about that on Saturday evening. Why pretend to be a nice person? If people want to resent me for it, I PERFECTLY UNDERSTAND!!! It's an extremely annoying topic.
:P :P :P :P :P :P
Today I did my smallest sister's therapy. It occurred to me that some of it would be worth blog-space, simply because it helps everybody.
Prepare to be bored out of your wits.
~Increasing your short-term memory: audio/visual digit spans. the objective: to hear a random number sequence, one number per second, and repeat it perfectly. Seven is the average number of digits a person can hold in his short-term memory. Anything beyond that is bound for Medical School and Outer Space. o_o
~A remedy for "mouthy" persons who chew ice, gum, pencils: Brush your mouth (all over) with a vibrating toothbrush for one minute, four to eight times a day. It seriously tickles. But it really works.
~Facial massaging: Get someone to tap, tickle, or rub your face in certain places---over the eyebrows, and straight up the center of the forehead. Just in front of the ears, to the bridge of the nose or just above the upper lip. Along the lower jawline. The benefits are endless, but I can't remember any specific ones. (how's that for convincing?)
~Some other generic exercises:
**Crawl on your stomach or hands and knees for three to five minutes. Be sure your hands and feet are alternating right together. Also do this backwards.
**Log roll with your hands above the head. Roll three times in one direction, then roll back again. Two minutes of this (more than once a day) is enough. You don't want to get too dizzy!
**Suck from a straw: Get a loopy straw, and use it to pick up pieces of paper from one cup and put them in another.
The point of all of these activities (simplified) is this: get both halves of the brain to work together.
It's very interesting to note that within the first few months of life, a baby will do all of those activities. God made it that way on purpose, to help us learn quickly and develop properly when we're young. But one can "unlearn" these things over the years, and sometimes we need to go back...

Hum, sounds like fun.
Maybe you could use some time with that vibrating toothbrush. :)

LOL!
I didn't even remember it was April Fool's until I dated some homework this afternoon...
I can't stand mouth stim., myself. **shudders**
