As I walked out one evening fair...

...it being summer, to take the air...

Okay. Enough of the "Dark-Eyed Sailor."

This evening, on a walk through the neighborhood:

The roads. I think they're rather unusual. Our road, for instance. Pleasantly soft gray* and black, worn down like an old leather case, just slipping to the surface where the grass hasn't claimed its own. In some places it sprawls out, and it winds with the hills and the trees.

And then there's the wind. It's practically summer, and I can tell, because this evening the wind was almost the same temperature as my body. No shock of cold or scorch of heat. Just this nice, caressing, whispering sensation on the arms. The wind doesn't command attention, evoke a sensation. It's just THERE. A life-breathing presence.

The grass glows green with color and evening sunshine.

Looking down from the hill, the purple-grey and rose sky just melts into the mist of horizon. I can see a shining stripe of the lake, the smudgy cloud of forest, and city buildings, all faintly tinted blue. The sun blazes red fire from behind the pink clouds...

*(grey with an 'e' looks more tightly strung than "gray" with an 'a'. This was a calming scene, and therefore this particular "gray" deserves an 'a'...)

My parents made us all get up before 6:30 a.m. to take a walk.

Lovely once again.

I'm listening to third movement of the Fiddle Concerto right now. Mark O'Connor is being particularly squirrely. :)
