The worst kind of post...
is when you write something out of obligation to your blog, when you really have nothing to say.
Okay. I just thought of something to say. Mama and I discussed this on the way home from hair appointments and a violin lesson:
I thought for the longest time that I should go to nursing school. Why? Well, because though the thought of needles and body fluids and fevers absolutely sickens me, I thought, "Well, hey. I'll get used to it."
Mama disillusioned me on that one. She basically said:
Some things you never just "get used to." Some things remain just as gross after the billionth encounter, as they were when you had your first exposure.
And I began to see the wisdom of that. Especially after swimming last night.
It hit me. No matter how many times I go off the diving board, I hate it as much every single time. Every time, I stand on that shaky plank, wondering why on earth I walked out there, and how much effort it would take to just turn around and walk back... Then I take a very deep breath, shut my eyes, and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Yes, I've been jumping off the board for well over six years, and it still remains the terror that it was six years ago. Can that be explained? Not really.
Some things about a person never really change...

For me, it was the opposite with the diving board thing. I hesitated ONCE. And found out it was fun. Ever after that, it's been "WHEEEE!"
But now DIVING off the diving board...I'll never live that down. UGGGHH! I hate diving. Unfortunately, that kinda prevents my becoming a lifeguard...=(
Hum hum.
I find people's fears rather peculiar. You and your brother who turns green at the sight of his own blood. :) I can understand, but still.... So *now* are you going to consider trying out for a music scholarship? :)
No plans of lifeguard, but...
Every year, it seems, I get up there and go "Uh....", (and every time) but every year (and every time) I just go, and *sploosh!*
:-)
~being a lifeguard requires hours of swimming laps, stamina, endurance, and extreme aerobic fitness. (if you want to try it, GO FOR IT! and GET TO WORK!)
~No, I'm not auditioning for a music scholarship, Frodo. :)
~Fears are not peculiar. They're just irrational (or overly rational).
...I'll never be able to be a nurse and I still can't dive off a diving board..I can jump off one, but I get kinda scared when our dog tries to pounce on me as I come up for air..she is so funny in the pool. I am afraid of water because i really do not want to drown. If you are ever in a pool with me, DO NOT dunk me under. I will become hysterical (NOT in the funny way) and probably get out of the pool for a while...never could figure out that about myself. I finally stopped trying :)
