Why am I online on a Sabbath?

The answer is very simple. It's Sunday afternoon, and I'm too tired to lie down (if that makes any sense). The whole family went out for a Bible study this evening, I have been left home with a sick and pitiful Pearl (aka The Sleeping Beauty). So I'm practically all by myself in a big house with no one to talk to and nothing to say to anyone (to quote Yenta from Fiddler on the Roof).

However, because I'm so tired, I can't HELP but say something (isn't that the way it goes?).

Proverbs 3:
13Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
And the man who gains understanding;
14For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver,
And her gain than fine gold.
15She is more precious than rubies,
And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.
16Length of days is in her right hand,
In her left hand riches and honor.
17Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
And all her paths are peace.
18She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
And happy are all who retain her.
19The LORD by wisdom founded the earth;
By understanding He established the heavens;
20By His knowledge the depths were broken up,
And clouds drop down the dew.
21My son, let them not depart from your eyes--
Keep sound wisdom and discretion;
22So they will be life to your soul
And grace to your neck.

I Corinthians 1:
20Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
22For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;
23but we preach Christ crucified,
24to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Now. I hope you didn't just scan down, because these were Bible verses and therefore Old Hat. o_O

This is one of those wonderful Old-New connections of the Bible. We preach Christ (the wisdom of God), and the fear of the Lord (the beginning of wisdom). Read this passage of Proverbs with "Christ" substituted for "wisdom." It actually makes an incredible amount of sense, because Christ is the wisdom of God, and the wisdom of God is what Solomon discusses in Proverbs.

Cool, huh?

Good post.

Mr. Pelligrini said that one of his friends who's not a Christian buys and sells new cars constantly--I suspect it has something to do with his (the friend's) lack of Wisdom and thus lack of contentment.
