Farewell Angelinaaa....

The bells of the crown
Are being stolen by bandits
I must follow the sound
The triangle tingles
And the trumpets play slow
Farewell Angelina
]The sky is on fire
And I must go.

Tim O'Brien sings a good version of this Bob Dylan song. Dylan pops up in the most interesting places (Altan, Nickel Creek).

Unfortunately for me, I can't for the life of me figure out the precise subject matter of this song.

I've put it up here for your enjoyment. Turn down your speakers, Frodo!

:D

Also (for Marigold):

I honored National Chemistry Week by not opening my chemistry textbook once. So far. I may break that record today.... >_>

Haha. Nickel Creek, "Ode to a Butterfly" is too loud.

It sounds as though that song (from the brief selection of lyrics) has no determinate meaning--rather like "Oh, Susannah".

Hurrah! What a way to honor it!

Am I supposed to be hearing something? Because, if I am, I'm not!

I'm guessing there's some problem with the downloading site. It'll either be back up in a few days...
or...

not.

I can't believe no one heard it, though! I had "Butterfly's Day Out" playing for a week just fine.

Oh well. :(

I recently watched part of a Bob Dylan documentary in which Joan Baez (with whom Dylan had a longish fling, as if longish flings should ever exist) laughed about a memory she had of Bob. He was scribbling down lyrics, looked at her, and said something to the effect of, "Years from now, people are going to be scratching their heads trying to figure out the deeper meanings of this song, and I don't even know what it means!" (Very loosely translated.)

Although many of his lyrics carry definite meaning, perhaps this song falls into the "other" category!

I suspect you're right.

I've written Clever and Impressive gibberish that turns out to be nothing more than... gibberish. Puzzling it out is a royal waste of time.
