Raining at Sunset!
From the essential "Not All Who Wander are Lost" by master mandolinist/composer Chris Thile.
In all seriousness, you should own this cd. And in all seriousness, don't bother about any of his more recent works. He went off the deep end about five years ago... and was probably teetering on the brink long before that. :o)
This is a seven-minute song, so hopefully it won't bore the socks off you, like the other one did.
Now, for some random quotes (let me disclaim that many of you, if you've talked to me recently, have already heard these):
This I saw on the doublebass professor's bulletin board last week: A small, one-panel cartoon entitled "Beethoven's Ninth Symphony." It consisted of a picture of silly-looking, inebriated bass players (with bubbles, wandering eyes, bottles, and dumb grins) in the context of an orchestra (a few serious cellists were drawn in as well): "It was the bottom of the ninth, and the bassists were loaded..."
~~~
At orchestra rehearsal last week: "I've been waiting three years to say this: More cowbell, please"--Dr. D
~~~
and last but not least, my good friend, on being pregnant for the first time:
"I feel like my body is being taken over by an alien and it’s about to burst through with its fangs at any moment. …Just kidding. I told [my husband] that and he said, 'but, it’s our alien.'"
And so, since I have nothing better to say,
Adios!
