Today, we're pink.
When life gives you lemons, and you must eat them, you have two options:
Eat them up straight, and enjoy the shock.
Or, find some sugar.
This week has been exciting. At Renaissance, my employer has been letting me sub in for the different teachers over their lunch breaks. Today, after three hours of sub-ing, I worked solo for three hours in the evening. It scared me half to death, and I still wonder if I did an adequate job. Daycare annoys me, because everything has to be done so fast, and even then, it never gets done. Then there are so many little things that can be forgotten, and so many details. (i.e., this unlabeled sippy cup in the fridge: WHOSE IS IT??? )
Today was rather exciting, and not just because of work. Let me explain. Late last night, I contracted pink-eye. I don't know how I gave it to myself, but apparently I did. Now my eyes are a bit swollen, and yes. They're pink. I'm realizing that I need to take better care of myself.
I went to the walk-in clinic, and saw Dr. Beals. He confirmed my guess of a diagnosis, but was just as concerned about my allergies. He wrote me a prescription for eye drops and a nasal spray.
Just after he wrote me his doctor's note, I called up my supervisor. I thought for sure she wouldn't want me in for work. But apparently, one teacher had already called in sick, and she couldn't let anyone else go that day. She said according to her policy, to be able to work, I only had to be started on the medication--and told me in no uncertain terms to GET MYSELF DOWN TO THE PHARMACY! When I came to work, she explained that if I were a student, I would have to take days off, but "You're an adult, and you can wash your hands." Talk about pressure.
As it turned out, I was too busy to ever touch my eyes. Figures. I felt like a zombie sometimes, but came home with a smile.
I managed to get most of the way through an Agatha Christie mystery. Lord Edgeware Dies.
It's good.
Did I tell you the tile-man is here, and we have CAUTION signs taped across parts of our kitchen, foyer, and walkway?
Did I tell you we've had pizza twice in the last three days?
Or, that Jonathan came over for dinner last night, and ate a whole bowl of split pea soup when he wasn't hungry?
Well, no. I didn't tell you about all that. You'll have to ask sometime or other. I'm getting a bit... sleepy.
